Review

November can mean a lot of things to people, the mental reminder that there is one more month till full holiday blitz is on, that Summer is really gone…unless you’re a gamer. November sometimes can signify that the gaming season has truly begun. No better example of that is that is the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.  Not only did Activision have InfinityWard come back to develop this, they brought along Sledgehammer Games, creators of Dead Space to assist. People lined up at their local Best Buys and GameStops just to have the bragging rights of being first to obtain this game.  There have been promotions done through Doritos and Mountain Dew over this game and some people have even tattooed the logo on their bodies.  This game have a special meaning to a lot of us, this was my first real first person shooter game, I’ve stuck with it since.  No doubt this game has a legacy built for the competitive gamer as well as the casual. I got this game one day early because I attended Call of Duty: XP and oh did I enjoy, so without further ado, here is my review of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3…without any fanboy bias

Campaign
Let’s break it down to campaign, no spoiler alerts here because I just started up campaign and from what I’ve heard from friends and from what I’ve played, it’s solid. Then again, we should expect nothing less from InfinityWard, the developers of Modern Warfare and its sequel. The game brings you all over the world, you get to “FINISH THE FIGHT”, see what I did there? The games campaign starts you out as an American soldier, it continues to bring the back and forth of special ops and normal infantry missions. Overall, the campaign is a important part of MW3 and it definitely did deliver.

Multiplayer
Multiplayer for any Call of Duty franchise is an important staple to the game, it’s what makes the game replay value so high.  These days, any good FPS title seems to need a good multiplayer to stand out.  Well it’s good to see that the MW3 multiplayer continues to show how top notch it truly is.  With integration of Call of Duty: Elite, Activision’s new stat tracking service for players, it truly brings a new level of awesome to the game.  Already the strike package system, what turned into the replacement for killstreaks shows how the development team  found a solution to making the game more objective based.  With new modes like Kill Confirmed and Team Defender, the game shows new ways to create hours of fun.  Everything involving the multiplayer system seemed to get an upgrade, from just hosting a match to how weapon customization turned out, the dev team truly stepped up to the plate and made a great reason alone to buy MW3.

Spec Ops
Another important aspect of the game, Spec Ops is the co-op or single player if you want missions to preform if you grow tired of campaign, in MW2 Spec Ops brought you special missions like sending one soldier through enemy territory while your friend became the gunner of an AC-130.  In this, Survival Mode really leaves its mark.  Think of it like zombies but with things like juggernauts and attack dogs.  Once again, another great aspect.

Final Call
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a great addition to the series reviving certain aspects of the game while at the sometime adding new features. Is it a great game? Hell yea! Should you buy it? Depends of what type of gamer you are. If you are familiar with CoD and are looking for somewhere to refresh your experience, this game is for you.
