Review
There is a sniper in your AO. Well not really, just the newest addition to the Battlefield series. Oh how I have waited for this so the hype machine being constantly fueled up by EA and the fan boys would just shut up already. Really, any time I needed to “research” something about Modern Warfare 3 on YouTube, comments just filled with the fan boys at war with each other. Do they win a prize for debating this topic? I hope so, because why that fight is worth fighting I’ll never know.
Battlefield was labeled as one of the most realistic video games out there by some critics, I look past that because at the end of the day, what will this accomplish, realism? No, video games can never be too realistic because they’re video games, do you think grenade launchers or “noobtubes” would be as effective as they are in FPS titles if it was realistic? Exactly. My point: Is Battlefield 3 pretty to look at? Yes, without a doubt the Frostbite 2 engine played a key role and can’t wait to see how to implement the use of the engine in other games. Also, destructible elements is nice especially when you know someone is camping behind a barrier, throwing a grenade for the purpose of blowing their cover has never been cooler.

Lets breakdown gameplay here, not only that but the single player. This might be a little short considering my distaste for the campaign. Right now, how I evaluate the campaign is “WHY THE F*CK DID THEY COPY CALL OF DUTY”. Really, that is what I said at the end of the campaign at 12:34 A.M.

All right, I’m done raging. Lets move on to the multiplayer, this game had its open beta on all consoles and PC during the month of September and overall seemed successful, it gave us the expectation of what Battlefield 3 could be like. Except with no vehicles..yes, no vehicles. Well now I’m happy because I’m playing Battlefield 3..with vehicles and it changes the game dynamics, besides people literally whoring the jet spawn that never changes..usually because I personally believe that everyone has a Tom Cruise Top Gun fantasy. Multiplayer works out as a team objective, which would be great if half the time anyone in the game decided “HEY, LET ME USE MY MIC AND COMMUNICATE LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING!”, which of course isn’t the games fault..just it’s user base ಠ_ಠ

Right away (with a squad filled with my peers) we played a couple of games and right off the back with our communicating skills started off strong, running around like ballerinas swan diving into prone positions won our games with ease, it’s not hard to win: just pray that the other team has a Top Gun fantasy. Level system is basic, all XP based off capturing objective points, destroying or disabling enemy vehicles, killing an enemy, or just winning the game itself. The game makes you earn attachments for your guns by playing the kit specifically. So do you want a Stinger rocket launcher to take down the jet constantly killing you? Well, play your engineer class…LIKE A BOSS. Want some C4 to blow stuff up? Well play your support class…LIKE A BOSS! Want heat-seeking missiles for your jet? Well shoot stuff down with your jet…LIKE TOM CRUISE in Top Gun. The point is so Battlefield will reward you if you learn how to play different classes, so that way you’re prepared for whatever happens.
Another point that EA can say they’re proud of is that fact this game has dedicated servers for its online multiplayer. So now, if you end up lagging out of a game, don’t blame the host because one, he doesn’t exist and two, it’s the publishers fault..be sure to contact them if you lag out…actually don’t, I really don’t need an e-mail from EA’s legal team telling me I solicited gamers to do my bidding.
So it does have a co-op mode but in all seriousness, I’m paying no attention to it for the simple reason, no one seems to care about it. Co-op is what it sounds like, two friends or enemies playing together in a campaign related mission.
This is where I explain in a condensed sentence what I thought, here it is: pretty good. 4.5 out of 5 is justified, the game was damn near flawless if it wasn’t for the campaign, “REALLY DICE, WTF”. In the end, I’ll play this game whenever I rage quit from Call of Duty. So there you go, see you on the battlefield.
