Last year in September at Call of Duty: XP, we were introduced to Call of Duty: Elite officially and what it will offer players..which included a $60 a year membership that would enable the user to download monthly downloadable content for free ranging from maps for the popular multiplayer to content for campaign and Spec Ops, today was the content drop for the first month and it was two multiplayer maps called Piazza which is a small close quarter combat themed map taking place in a small costal Italian town and the other being Liberation, a large map taking place in New York’s Central Park.
So far Call of Duty: Elite has been launching programming to keep users entertained and launched apps for the service on both the iPhone and Android OS. The cool thing is that they recruited Rob Riggle from the Daily Show to do a quick ad for Elite.
The DLC drops are marked through seasons as the developers, InfinityWard and Sledgehammer work each month on the DLC returning from their vacations after completing MW3. Activision saw a record in sales at MW3′s launch. We will have to wait to hear how many people downloaded the DLC, I will admit though it is weird that maps not from the DLC are running in the DLC-specific playlists…but then again these are the people who thought lag compensation was a good idea.
