So this is unrelated to technology and all that other stuff.  May 21 was apparently supposed to be judgement day or to Christians and other religious denominations that involve Jesus Christ, the rapture. This was announced by Harold Camping,  an 89 year old radio broadcaster who previously predicted that the world would end on September of 1994.

Obviously, the world has not ended and we all are living our lives as usual uninterrupted by acts of god.  As an atheist, I usually would love to take the moment to rub it in to others around me that are very religious and get out and call Mr. Camping stupid but I do like to take note of others religions and call others out on something when they deserved to be called out.

I noticed on Facebook that a neighbor made a status update about the doomsday theory stating:

I’m alive? I’M ALIVE!!! No i’m just kidding haha i never believed in that. But who is this guy TO EVEN THINK that he knows more than My One and Only savior. ♥ Matthew 24:36! He even shut down the website. HAHAHA what a joke. Harold Camping, go stay in your house cuz NO ONE likes you -__-

I’m not hear to preach and continue writing this late but this is what I responded with.  He generally thought it would end. He didn’t take his website down, his site crashed due to the overwhelming amount of traffic. My site would go down if it received that much traffic.

I don’t think that’s very Christian to go out and say no one likes someone. Forgiveness is preached all through out the Bible. Sure do I feel angry that he led people to believe a lie, but at the same time, a lot of people didn’t have to believe him. The man owns multiple radio stations, he’s already rich and he just generally thought he had proof. We live another day and nothing changes.

UPDATE: Harold Camping has stated that the rapture will now occur October 21, 2011.

UPDATE 2: The world did not end.
